As a proud descendant of the Waanyi Kalkadoon and Eastern Arrernte tribes from North West Queensland, near Mount Isa, Alana draws deep inspiration from her family’s cultural heritage. She is passionate about integrating ancient practices into modern skincare routines, celebrating the richness of plants, rituals, and remedies passed down through generations.
Alana's infectious energy and commitment to bridging millennia-old traditions with contemporary life position her as a leader in Indigenous trade. She serves as the Australian Ambassador for the International Inter-Tribal Trade and Investment Organisation (IITIO), an organisation established in 2014 at the College of Law, University of Oklahoma, to promote the economic rights of Indigenous peoples through inter-tribal trade.
Before founding Ochre Sun, Alana dedicated her career to mentoring and advocating for Indigenous businesses across various roles. She also spent a decade in the beauty and skincare industry, inspired by her mother’s career in the sector. Alana hopes to inspire her daughters through her work with Ochre Sun, creating more opportunities for future generations.
